A man from the UK has sparked controversy online after forgetting his wife during a roadside toilet break and driving over 100 miles before realising his mistake.
The couple, who have not been named, were travelling from Birmingham to London when they decided to stop for a toilet break on the side of the motorway. The wife got out of the car to use the restroom while her husband drove off, mistakenly believing she was still inside.
It wasn’t until over an hour later, when the man stopped for a coffee, that he realised his wife was missing. He immediately called the police and began driving back to the spot where they had stopped, a journey of over 100 miles.
The woman was eventually found by police, who had been alerted to the situation by the husband. She was reportedly unharmed but shaken by the ordeal.
The incident has sparked a debate online, with many people criticising the man for forgetting his wife and driving off without checking that she was with him.
Some commenters argued that it was a simple mistake and that the man should not be judged too harshly for it, while others said that it was a serious lapse in judgement and that he should have been more responsible.
Many also noted that the situation could have been much worse if the woman had been injured or lost in the remote area where they had stopped.
The couple has not made any public comments on the incident, but it serves as a reminder to always double-check that all passengers are accounted for before driving off.
