A young woman sought great support from the Reddit community after realizing she might no longer have a residence to return to during the school breaks.
The teenage college student shared in a recent post that she had always assumed she would be able to go home for the holidays and summertime, but her family made it so clear that this was not the case.
Refusing to disclose her identity, the 19-year-old female mentioned how she was in her first semester of college and had just earned a scholarship to her dream school. This was just a plane ride away from her residence.
Before she left for her school, her younger sister had asked to take over her room. ‘I was fine with that since I will mostly be here outside of holidays and summers,’- she added.
She packed up her things and placed her most important belongings into totes, planning to unpack them when she came home for the holidays.
Her parents had divorced when she was just six years old, and while she never recalled her childhood being bad, her family dynamic had always been a complicated one. ‘They both remarried, my dad and stepmother have two kids under 10, and my dad did not have any more’- she revealed.
Despite knowing her tough background, she was so appalled at how her stepmother would be so unwelcoming to her. She shared how she adored her parents, but felt closer to her dad, from what it looks like right now, her stepmother is not keen on ensuring her bond with her dad remains stronger than ever.
